“We are never more than one generation away from extinction as Christians.  These children will have a special need to be specifically taught the principles and application.  If you don’t teach them these skills, who will?”  ~Joyce Herzog – Learning in Spite of Labels

Thanksgiving and Praise!  It’s how we live our lives each day.  Today, in honor of Thanksgiving in a few more days, I share #22 of my month long notations of gratitude.

# 22 Grateful, grateful, grateful, no words to truly express…. Grateful considering the trenches we’ve been through.  We can sit today and recognize the deliverance and freedom that has come.  When he can see it for himself, where he was, and where he is today.  When he remembers then, and sees now… and recognizes we journeyed this together with the Word of God – Our Savior and Lord, LOVE, and prayer.   When his face lights up and it is evident he truly recognizes the difference.  Recognizes the transformation.  And can see GOD and that He is real!

How will he have that special relationship with God?  Hard to connect with someone Who cannot be literally seen.  Hope, however, consumes me when I know he remembers the pain, remembers the day in and day out of living with our Savior’s LOVE and TRUTH by our side,  and he is living and feeling-experiencing freedom and peace.  Building upon building a reality of there truly is a God at work, even though we cannot see Him, He is true and real and present and with us.  We do “experience” and “see” him through His mighty acts.

A beautiful talk on the couch last night.  Sharing  how a Walmart photographer who said to me when he was just 6 months old.  “there is something special about your son.  I am a Christian and this might sound strange, but sometimes God gives me these words, and I just want to say, God has something amazing He is going to do with his life.”

What’s so amazing?  I had no idea what God meant by that.  Sitting snuggled with him, sharing this journey from his birth and until this present day.  I realize this is what is happening….  this is what I am doing…

THIS!….”one generation shall praise Your works to another (and that was me, last night pointing to His mighty works to the next generation), and shall declare Your mighty acts…All your works shall praise YOU, OH LORD, and your saints shall bless YOU.  They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power, to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom, Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations”  Psalm 145:4, 10-12

And God shows me THIS is AMAZING, THIS IS MY SPECIAL PLAN – AND THIS IS ME and this is GOOD!  “for I know the plans I have for you to give you a future and a hope”  Jer. 29:11

There is One

WHO wants to bring you out of bondage into His glorious light
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9

WHO will shelter you under the shadow of His wings and give you refuge and rest.
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Ps. 91:1

WHO will be the one to fight for you.
“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Ex. 14:14

WHO will never leave you or forsake you.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deut. 31:16

WHO will take what has been broken and restore you and bring revival to the next generation.
“But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.” Ex. 20:6

WHO will strengthen you by His power and might.
“being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience” Col. 1:11

WHO will keep you in perfect peace as your mind remains on Him.
“You will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Is. 26:3

ONE WHO will send armies of angels to keep you right where you need to be.
“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;” Ps. 91:11

WHO calls us to REMAIN in HIM because He loves.
” I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing… If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you… As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you…. Jn. 15:4-14

ONE …the Savior…Christ the LORD!
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Jn 10:10

Everyday Life Presents Opportunities – A Very Short Story

He’s been asking questions – to God be the glory!  It’s a new thing!  And I rejoice! Through the quiet and waiting and in varying seasons, buds spring forth!

“mom, WHERE did dad get those flowers?”  Mom replies:  “I don’t actually know WHERE.  But let me ask you.  Do you know WHO dad gave these flowers to?”

He replied:  “he gave them to you mom”.  Yes!

“And… son, let me ask you, WHY?  WHY did dad give me these flowers? ”

“Because he LOVES you.”  Exactly son.

And… lastly “HOW” do you think it made mom feel?

Answer:  “happy”

WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY AND HOW?  Bringing the connections to life!

We were given story cards awhile back with social scenarios to help bring connection to the world around.

However, I find even better than those, God presents the most beautiful opportunities within our daily living to take the REAL life and bring about the connections.

Pray * Trust * Obey * the living Word of God.

“Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth” Hosea 6:3

A Thanksgiving Gift – Thankful November, Thankful Everyday

A gift to mom and teacher-“every good and perfect gift comes from above.” James 1:17 I just have to share a testimony! So worthy of honor to our MIGHTY Savior. Because I humbly share that I don’t know what I am doing, BUT I know a God who indeed knows ALL THINGS and if I did not have him I would fall apart in a minute! Our youngest struggles with focus issues. Yet we have been sharing two truth’s right from God’s Word. “my son listen to the instruction of your father…it will be a blessing to his life”-..(Prov. 4) and “work heartily to the LORD-you will be rewarded” – col 323 PEOPLE I want to encourage you that NO matter what you face – even the raising of SPECIAL KIDDOS that God’s gives us all that pertains to LIFE in his WORD! The last two days he has WORKED SO hard with all his might, and as he sat finishing today he looked up at me and said: “mom, you are my greatest teacher, and I LOVE YOU so much” (with tears filling his eyes and a hug) -as this woman put it: “God’s Word does not return void. It can ONLY accomplish His purpose. I don’t know about you, but I see His Word as the only 100% guaranteed book out there amongst all of the curricula offered to produce fruit. Can anything else give you that promise? It WILL always accomplish HIS purpose! You can’t go wrong with it as your foundation. AMEN!” ~ Karen DeBeus

Association – It’s Powerful in Our Home Sweet Home Today!

In my charting special tributes to Thanksgiving Thankfulness in November… this is day 14-

#14 – Thankful for this…
He sat quietly on the bar stool watching his mother work away on the other side of the counter, stirring eggs and prepping pancake batter for morning breakfast. When he associated with a very popular kids movie out right now what was happening in his life, he says with all enthusiasm and a smile on his face… “step 9! Enjoy a complete breakfast with all the special people in your life” (the Lego Movie – and yes steps are important especially when they involve special times with the people you love). Thankful for the way God brings about special gifts day by day.

It Wasn’t God’s Plan For Us

It just wasn’t God’s plan for us. Grateful for a God who shows His plan. “we can do all things through Christ Who gives us strength” Phil 4:13 was on my heart all day first with coming down with a cold, but also, reflecting as I took the boys on a special trip today. We drove through Dutch Bros. for our hot drinks, and then swung by a place to share a story. A building that he was in once when he was 3. We left there that day, knowing that for our boy, for our family this was not where God would place him-God made that clear with a vision for “our” family. “you cannot teach your son – we are concerned with your choice” we were told .. and a faith journey began of clinging to Deut. 6 -teach your children diligently, day and night. The point is, we as parents were questioned as to what was best for our son. Yet in faith, we knew God gave us the authority and His word to do what was best for our son. Sharing this story with my boys today was such a huge treat! Look at our life, look how far God has taken him, taken all of us and how very thankful for the journey He has taken us on and the things we would not have, had we not weighed our decisions with God’s word. Now who knew the truth? Truth be told we could indeed do this, ONLY through the POWER that works in us – JESUS HIMSELF.  Eph 3:20-21

A drive through Dutch Bros, a drive to that building that we did not keep him in, a drive to Multnomah Falls together as brothers.  Loving and learning, in way, God perfectly had in mind for our family.  I can see the gratitude in their hearts.  I truly can.  There was a time, when they didn’t understand.  Now, they can reflect with me, and see the glories of God and be thankful with me.

We arrived back home for Isaac to embrace his place.  “ahhh, he says, cozy sweet home”

As my Maximus said to me today later on after we arrived home for studies.  “mom, you are doing a great job with us.  Understanding us, teaching us, I am going to give you a gift.  Thank you mom, I love you mom (and all sealed with a kiss).”

And as my Maximus wrote in his journal today.  “I am thankful that I can do all through through Christ who gives me strength”  Phil. 4:13

I just say, thank you JESUS for everything.  You are the faithful ONE.  You are everything to me!
