I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalms 121:1-2
My husband and I took a drive the other day to one of our favorite areas, the Columbia River Gorge. I love looking at the mountains. This mountain, I loved so very much because of what sat in front of it. The cross!
We look to the mountains, knowing the creator Who made them, is the One Who made us. Savior, our helper through all times through the Holy Spirit given to those who believe.
But we also, can look at the “mountains” of our life, and feel completely overwhelmed. Emotions can weigh so heavy, and the Lord is the One we look to, as He provides the answer to our heavy pain we carry. He carried it all to the cross. And provides strength to keep going on this journey. He heals. Restores. Makes us new. One day to the next, as we trust in Him. His Word. His Word is life, and the only help to truly deliver from the burdens of sin, pain, afflictions. He will use every trial in this still sin filled world, to draw us nearer and near to Him. To His praise and glory! We will find victory over and over again, with victory secure forever into eternity, and all we need in Christ Alone.
But we must come to Jesus as the answer. We can glean from others. But our focus must be Christ Jesus. He is the Perfect One. He is the One with every comfort, empathy, understanding, and ability to overcome every issue of life that feels weighty and too much. It is too much for us in our flesh. In our weakness, Christ’s power rests on a believer. That is such an immense gift. I find so much blessing on a day I am on my knees, in tears, and pleas, and question, how I can even stand up and “go”, but the Holy Spirit reminds me “My power rests”. To believe, His power literally is upon us, give us strength to rise up. As we walk holding onto His righteous right hand.
How many times have a I started a day, already feeling overwhelmed by the day ahead. And every day, as I submit myself to the loving, caring God of my life, pour it out, cast it on Him, and trust Him by His every Word, and thank Him for His promises, AS WELL AS HIS COMMANDMENTS, and pray and obey, He raises me up, and shows His power and glory.
Eyes on Jesus!.
We Climb those Mountains. Tests of Highest importance to pass. Enduring, maturing, persevering, faith through painful trials.
Victory-Jesus Christ-eternal life-our Faith. He goes before us.
With joy set before Him endured the cross-we trust in His Perfect Saving Love.
Who fights for us. Taking us onward to maturing faith, onward to glory.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the TESTING of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, because, having stood the test, (passed the test)that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12
“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14
What mountains do you face today? I know as a woman, my emotions can try and rule me if I am not careful. I am to be on guard, and take EVERY thought captive to obey Christ. When my heart is overwhelmed, it is right to pour this out to Jesus. The Psalms are full of David the warrior pouring it out in deep emotion. But he always turned, wholeheartedly, to who he knew God is! Able! And Present in his life. He always surrendered. Repented. And kept His hope and faith in God.
May God’s peace, Words, rule us, and not our emotions. Emotions are to be taken to the ultimate One Who is able to comfort us with complete comfort. The Father in heaven, in Who we belong, forever, as sinners saved by grace. Belonging to the Kingdom of heaven.
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
Colossians 3:15
