Jesus Loves Me. A Song for All Seasons. For Young, For Old- For All Who Will Receive (Check out this version we shared at a Senior Living Community)!
A song we often sing to our children.
I sang it over our son Isaac after he was born, on life support in the NICU, onward after the Lord’s healing touch, when we were blessed to bring him home.
I sang it over our son Maximus rocking him through days and nights. I’ve sang it to many.
“Jesus Loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so, little ones to Him belong, they are weak,
but He is strong…yes Jesus Loves Me.. the BIBLE tells me so”
I love that the Lord sings over His children, through all ages, stages, seasons of life.
“The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
A powerful testimony to Jesus Christ in singing this song, is when my son Isaac was four years old.
One night at age four, when my little stroke survivor, not yet gained much in communication ability for receptive or expressive,
laid between Joe and I in bed with a high fever and very sick. When in a beautiful moment, I heard something
shocking coming out of his mouth. I drew my ear close, and in a faint voice, lips quivering,
I heard him speaking the words to this song!
This little boy had experienced a relational connection between these words,
his mama and daddy’s comforting touch, and the very wonder working Spirit of the living God
pointing him to truth. He was speaking, what had been sung over him,
finding a way through the darkness and pain, in a consoling truth filled song!
This brought immense comfort to me that night. God also used it to bless me with strength, to see what He was doing in my son.
The Lord encouraged me to press on in my special calling with both my unique boys,
to share Jesus with them all through the day, night, ages, stages,
and see Christ’s ability accomplish His work!
Now, yesterday, our family was blessed to join with some of our church family, as we made our way to a Senior Living Residential Care Community.
We had church in the chapel with some very special residents. This picture is a new version of Jesus Loves Me,
a wonderful member brought along, in particular thought, for this season of life for those living there.
Verse one:
Jesus loves me, this I know,
though my hair is white as snow,
though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.
Yes! Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so!
Verse two:
Though my steps are oh, so slow
with my hand in His I’ll go
On through life, let come what may,
He’ll be there to lead the way,
Yes Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so!
Verse three:
Though I am no longer young,
I see much that He’s begun,
Let me serve Christ with a smile,
And go with others the extra mile.
Verse Four:
When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song,
Telling me words, Oh so clear,
“Have no fear, for I am near”
Singing…
Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus Loves me, the bible tells me so.
Jesus’ love extends from beginning to end of life on this earth, and for those who receive Him as Savior, onward into eternity forever.
What a comfort, of this great love, power, and His great Faithfulness no matter age, stage, abilities, season of life.
The Lord is Faithful.
Like my son, in his weakness, as the Spirit of the living God ministered deep within,
showing His presence and power, we would all do well to acknowledge our poor and needy state,
and find all we need in Jesus Christ the Lord. Psalms 40:17
What a beautiful Lord, and relationship we are given, in our weakness He is strong.
From the time we are born to the time of our last breath on earth, we are offered a gift, Jesus Christ.
If we receive, we too will sing in our hearts, knowing He is singing over us all the days of our life.
And when we enter glory, we will sing to Him forever. To God be the glory!
