My boys enjoyed this recipe my friend shared with me.
I love old fashioned things, and stepping back in time. Home schooling has always really just intertwined with daily life. We eat daily, and thus, so fun to incorporate educational lessons, with what we do everyday. This recipe invented around WWII purposely, when certain food items (like dairy and eggs, which we don’t do dairy anyway) low in households due to the war. It also has other names like War cake, etc. Very moist. I did use Coconut oil in place of the vegetable oil. A delicious and easy cake to enjoy when wanting a special dessert night, and perhaps take a little trip back in time.
And it’s interesting. I had made plans at start of day, that I would make this, this night.
My day totally ended up WACKY.
Like on my knees praying Jesus I need your strength. My sons both prayed the MOST BEAUTIFUL PRAYERS OVER ME. And Maximus spoke TRUTH into a situation that I couldn’t see through momentarily. I had been hit hard with a circumstance. It hit me emotionally. I needed to rise up. The emotions fogged my ability momentarily to see clearly. I said, I wanted to be a soldier, and be courageous.
Maximus said: “Mom. You ARE A SOLDIER. You ARE courageous. Not only are you a soldier, but you have trained my brother and I to be SOLDIERS FOR CHRIST ” My head lifted. I thought, “oh that’s right! Of course”. TRUTH literally infused my whole being, I rose in TRUTH, faced the circumstances with the strength of JESUS MY SAVIOR, TRUTH Who sets us free, with courage, and wisdom, power, love, I had victory.
And then. With determination as the evening drew near, I broke out that Wacky Cake recipe, and praised God. I praised Him for taking the WACKIEST and most peculiar of circumstances, and through His love and power, bringing sweet victory!
Joy in the little things, bless hearts in big ways.
“Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD, BLESSED is the person who trusts in Him” Ps. 34:8
Best cake I’ve ever had, in my whole life!
