What is this? It is a chair. Not an elephant. Not a race car. Not a banana. It is a chair.
Sounds ridiculous. But these are the devotionals I pull out for our sons to show them what’s happening in the world. What God calls us to do as Believers in Christ.
Discern the truth.
Contrary to “people’s” decisions to make TRUTH be whatever fits their agenda, this is not truth. God created life and is the Author of Truth. He is GOD. Not us. We are sinners. He is Perfect. We are not all knowing, God is. We are to submit to His Lordship, and live in Truth and Love.
“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” Col. 2:8
Where do we get our belief system? Where do we get help for our minds and souls? We get it from the Word of God. All of it. Not parts. All of it. All that pertains to life and godliness is found in the pages of scriptures, as we read, study, soak, apply it to our lives, in prayer and thanksgiving to Jesus Christ the Lord Who came to save us and give us His Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth.
Truth matters. Satan is the father of lies. The devil is on a prowl seeking souls to devour. (Jn. 8:44, 1 Peter 5:8)
There is truth and there is lies. Other names for a lie – falsehood, deceit, deception, manipulation. Avoidance of the full truth is a lie.
TRUTH is so serious it’s a matter of life or death. TRUTH or LIE. LIFE OR DEATH.
Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, the life, no one comes to the Father, except through Me” Jn 14:6
So, why the sparring gloves and headgear? Come on’ guys, we must pick up and put on the whole armor of God, and pray, as we exercise the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God!
Fight for TRUTH. All for Love. For love – for God, what Jesus Christ has done for us, love for people.
Where do we get our wisdom, guidance, strength, to become all God wants us to be? It must be from God. And if any “philosophy” of the world attempts to pull us to another “way” – we must flee.
This is the warning, again today, I give to our sons. We have encountered things they love and enjoy and are from God. Yet, in their endeavors to “add” to their goals and dreams, there are ploys of the enemy, “philosophies” of the world that would like to attempt to draw them to glean from sources that contradict God as their POWER SOURCE. This strips away to the Praise and glory of our precious Savior – the Living Word Who became flesh and died on a rugged cross to save our souls. This is where we never want to go. We must stand firm, courageous, trusting God and HIS EVERY WORD to be the AUTHORITY, GUIDE, RESOURCE for our growth in our lives as He is our JOY. We are here because of Him. All that pertains to life, in goals, dreams, in following His plan and will, we keep submitting to His Word and are extremely grateful, for the TRUTH that SETS us FREE! Free in daily living, and free for all eternity.
