“We are never more than one generation away from extinction as Christians.  These children will have a special need to be specifically taught the principles and application.  If you don’t teach them these skills, who will?”  ~Joyce Herzog – Learning in Spite of Labels

Thanksgiving and Praise!  It’s how we live our lives each day.  Today, in honor of Thanksgiving in a few more days, I share #22 of my month long notations of gratitude.

# 22 Grateful, grateful, grateful, no words to truly express…. Grateful considering the trenches we’ve been through.  We can sit today and recognize the deliverance and freedom that has come.  When he can see it for himself, where he was, and where he is today.  When he remembers then, and sees now… and recognizes we journeyed this together with the Word of God – Our Savior and Lord, LOVE, and prayer.   When his face lights up and it is evident he truly recognizes the difference.  Recognizes the transformation.  And can see GOD and that He is real!

How will he have that special relationship with God?  Hard to connect with someone Who cannot be literally seen.  Hope, however, consumes me when I know he remembers the pain, remembers the day in and day out of living with our Savior’s LOVE and TRUTH by our side,  and he is living and feeling-experiencing freedom and peace.  Building upon building a reality of there truly is a God at work, even though we cannot see Him, He is true and real and present and with us.  We do “experience” and “see” him through His mighty acts.

A beautiful talk on the couch last night.  Sharing  how a Walmart photographer who said to me when he was just 6 months old.  “there is something special about your son.  I am a Christian and this might sound strange, but sometimes God gives me these words, and I just want to say, God has something amazing He is going to do with his life.”

What’s so amazing?  I had no idea what God meant by that.  Sitting snuggled with him, sharing this journey from his birth and until this present day.  I realize this is what is happening….  this is what I am doing…

THIS!….”one generation shall praise Your works to another (and that was me, last night pointing to His mighty works to the next generation), and shall declare Your mighty acts…All your works shall praise YOU, OH LORD, and your saints shall bless YOU.  They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power, to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom, Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations”  Psalm 145:4, 10-12

And God shows me THIS is AMAZING, THIS IS MY SPECIAL PLAN – AND THIS IS ME and this is GOOD!  “for I know the plans I have for you to give you a future and a hope”  Jer. 29:11
