Thankful For God’s Tender Mercies

“For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;”

Psalms 103:11

As I opened my bible this rainy, yet beautiful color-filled fall morning, I was so blessed to meditate upon the tender mercies of God.  Something about that word “tender” makes it come to extra beautiful relevant comfort and blessing upon me as a Daughter of the King Most High.

I thought I might share in hopes you might find blessing in the considerations of the tender mercies of God.

I personally noted many wonderful mercies He has bestowed upon my personal life of nearly 50 years.

First and forever the greatest tender mercy is that of the great sacrifice of Jesus the Son, in order to save me from the hell I deserve all because of my sin.  The miraculous way in which He made CERTAIN I knew the gospel at a very young age, against some pretty extreme opposition-His mercy and grace! Has He done this for you?

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Rom. 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom. 6:23

I read in Psalms 25:6, which led to Psalms 103:17-22 and onward to beautiful Lamentations 3:21-26, 29, 40-41

From Psalms 103 I spotted a few powerful words for the awesome benefits to those who Believe and belong to Christ.

Tender mercies

Lovingkindness

Forgiveness of sins

heals

redeems your life from destruction

Crowns you with lovingkindess and tender mercies!

What a wonderful visual to think upon. So undeserved, yet the rich mercy of God the Father to His daughters adopted into His everlasting love and faithfulness, crowns us with tender mercies.  It is the same for all the brothers and sisters in the family of God.  I just write to women.  It is for women I write.  As Sisters in the Lord.  Women to lift up one another as I have some in my life who do this for me! As we spur on in obedience to the Lord in the order of God’s design.  I think of that crown as a hovering presence of the Holy Spirit resting upon us.  A hovering presence that never leaves or forsakes us.  It’s all because of the terrible crown of thorns that Christ our Savior wore as He hung on that cross to pay for the punishment of MY sins and all who repent and believe. That He blesses His children with something so undeserved, a crown that I like to consider as a hovering presence of His continual work on the cross on my behalf, in the strength and might of His resurrection power.   He traded His Kingly throne to come to this wretched world of sin, for an awful crown of thorns,  in order to crown me with His forever tender mercies upon my life.  Making way for eternal life, promised to all who receive Him and the precious gift of beautiful life.

Executes righteousness and justice to the oppressed!

This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
It is good that one should hope and wait quietly
For the salvation of the Lord.

Lam. 3:22-26

God’s rich mercy is an encompassing love, grace, mercy, goodness, forgiveness, TRUTH, compassion, and faithfulness.

So whatever cloud of despair, or brokenness, or pain hovers over your life today.  I pray you find comfort in a personal relationship with Christ the King.

I made a list today of the many mercies of God in my life.  I turned my eyes off of the hovering cloud of circumstances, and once again to Jesus and His tender mercies and His forever presence in my life.

Perhaps a list will encourage you today?  However God leads you today, I pray you find peace and comfort in God, today, tomorrow and for all eternity.

“Let us search out and examine our ways,
And turn back to the Lord;
Let us lift our hearts and hands
To God in heaven.”

Lam. 3:40-41

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  2 Cor. 12:9

“Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses” Ps. 25:6
