The Rescuer – Oh death where is your sting?

He was sent out to remove the dandelions from the yard.  That is my 13 year old son. Before he removed this one, he would use it to rescue.  He reached his finger down into the grass to a little bee that seemed to be struggling.   He set it upon this dandelion, gave it a little pat on the back, and the bee, seemed to get it together and took flight.  Away it went. He was so happy to be the rescuer.  Risking a sting, in order to save one of God’s little critters.  So happy, that as soon as he finished telling me the story, he began to sing:

We lose our way,
We get back up again
Never too late to get back up again,
You may be knocked down but not out forever,
It’s never too late, to get back up again
You may be knocked down, but not out forever…

Because he knows the Rescuer.  Jesus Christ.  Who took the brutal sting of death to save.

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our LORD Jesus Christ.”  1 Cor. 15:55-57

Victory!  We may get knocked down, but not out forever.  Jesus Christ leads us on, lifts us up, and sets us flying onward day by day, in His plan, towards eternity.

“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar…. ( wings like eagles) ” Is. 40:31
