I stood here filling my cup this morning, asking Jesus to pleeeeeeease fill me. I jumped into my bible and I was filled to overflowing. I put my focus on the filling power of the Holy Spirit. This is beyond comprehension, that this could even be, it is true. I know this. But this knowing is a faithful growing to more understanding until we meet Jesus in fullness face to face. He is showing me specific areas of my life, He is calling me to grow in standing in greater intentional awareness of His power that dwells within. How great are the manifold works of GOD! (Psalms 104).
God reminded me. My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life (including this day) and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalms 23)
Believers are filled with power.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God?” (1 Cor. 6:19)
He gives us power to carry out our mission. Sometimes I forget how much power lives inside of me. I am aware of the weakness of my flesh, but I am called to remember truth – His power lives in me! And this power is HUGE! The same power that raised Jesus from the dead! I can do all things through Christ Who gives me strength. (Phil. 4:13)
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
To the ends of the earth…may be in our own backyard, community, grocery store, or simply and profoundly put, our very home.
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)
John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one Who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of Whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Luke 3:16
Humbly acknowledge He is Lord. Receive His gift and walk in the Spirit.
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms…” Ephesians 1:17-20
God’s Word, the holy scriptures, took me to having the eyes of my heart enlightened again to the power that dwells within. As He gives new situations to face, I am reminded in Joshua 1:5-6 where God’s Spirit poured out on him:
“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land…”
Walk confidently. Humbly. With a grateful heart. Obediently, to a Faithful God. As we know we are not worthy, but because of His great love, we can and are commanded to arise and go. Inherit the promise.
I belong to Him.
“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba,Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” Rom. 8:14-16
When we face complexity of trials, rather than fear, or feel intimidated or overwhelmed because it’s so “beyond me”, stand up confidently, knowing Who lives in “me”. Who we are living for, Who died for us, Who came to life from the dead, and has given us life and His very power, the Holy Presence of God in us. Jesus Christ the Lord.
I LOVE THIS!
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Cor. 12:9-11
