When the Battles Rage – Psalms 18

“For by You I can run against a troop,  By my God I can leap over a wall.  As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.”

Psalms 18:29-31

The Psalmist was hit by insurmountable odds all around stacked against him.

When you go through a long season, hit by one change and another, another.  Hit by one overwhelming event after another.  Hit by impossible situations in your own strength.  Hit by unexpected circumstances that leave you thinking God had you going one way, which He did for a time, but now He has detoured you.  God directs for seasons one way, and redirects, and redirects. Calls you to wait. Trust more. Learn patience anew, rest in His sovereignty.

Hardships that feel insurmountable. One battle and another. Unrelenting. In over your head – but not really because His righteous right hand is holding you, and pulling you out to walk in faith towards Him on the water.

A call to seek God more deeply, a call for greater grace to abound,  in this full awareness of human weakness. “walk by faith, not by sight”. Though we do not see with our eyes, nor by human understanding, we ask God to open the eyes of our heart to see Him. We by faith walk in obedience.

Walking in faith, though we do not “see” all that God is doing, the invisible, behind the scenes of our understanding, God is moving, working, orchestrating.

We cry out, and He saves. He saves with Divine Peace, Comfort. He saves, with His Word to keep our minds stayed on Him and not the raging battles. He gives victory.

Struck today with this  Psalms Chapter 18. One chapter, 50 verses that resonate so deeply and relevant to our own life experiences. To share these Words with our children today is the most absolute valuable blessing. I always pray they will see Jesus in every storm, every battle, every hurt, pain, confusion, disappointment, and every victory.  May they grow in understanding – JESUS – He is our victory. We are seeing Him. We are seeing this Psalms play out in our own lives, in symbolisms that pertain to our own “enemies” that try to steal our hope and peace and confidence. As David testified, the Lord drew him out of deep waters, it is also our testimony.

Declare the praises and works of the Lord. Meditate on that good report because of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Emotional. Deep waters. Overwhelmed. Struck. Not forsaken. Hold on and keep trusting. I believe, Lord help my unbelief. No turning back. God delights in His children. We will see His glory.

To see His mighty hand guide us. Sometimes we are perplexed and confused by the direction He is taking us. Then other times, or later, we see and are astounded and awe struck by what He is doing and how Has taken us through and really the good work He has done.  Trust Him.

We know our Spiritual growth is of the utmost importance to Him, so every issue of this life in this current world we live in, and every single experience day in and out, God will use to His praise and glory in preparing us for the Kingdom He has prepared for us.

There is our flesh.  Thinking in our own understanding.  We are thankful for the Spirit in us, that overcomes. The real enemy is not flesh and blood, but the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly realms.   And Christ the Lord Jesus our Armor, He has given us every weapon and protection necessary to overcome. Get dressed, daily, and trust Him. Just keep going.  When we are weary, discouraged, keep going.  Keep seeking.  Keep learning greater trust.  Keep depending on Him.  His grace sufficient His power made perfect in weakness.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

“for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”
1 John 5:4

” I  love you, Lord, my strength.

 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
    my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
    my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
    and I have been saved from my enemies.

 He reached down from on high and took hold of me;
    he drew me out of deep waters.
 He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
    from my foes, who were too strong for me.
 They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
    but the Lord was my support.
 He brought me out into a spacious place;
    he rescued me because he delighted in me.

 The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness;
    according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.
 For I have kept the ways of the Lord;
    I am not guilty of turning from my God.
 All his laws are before me;
    I have not turned away from his decrees.
 I have been blameless before him
    and have kept myself from sin.
 The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness,
    according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

 To the faithful you show yourself faithful,
    to the blameless you show yourself blameless,
 to the pure you show yourself pure,
    but to the devious you show yourself shrewd.
 You save the humble
    but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.
 You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
    my God turns my darkness into light.
 With your help I can advance against a troop;
    with my God I can scale a wall.

 As for God, his way is perfect:
    The Lord’s word is flawless;
    he shields all who take refuge in him.
 For who is God besides the Lord?
    And who is the Rock except our God?
 It is God who arms me with strength
    and keeps my way secure.

 You make your saving help my shield,
    and your right hand sustains me;
  The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock!

  He shows unfailing love to his anointed”

From Psalms 51

EXTRA ADD to this BLOG if you want to know…How does one become a child of God?

The Bible teaches in John 1:12 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” To become a child of God, Scripture clearly states you must receive Jesus and believe in His name.

How can we receive Jesus? By faith. Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Receiving Jesus is not something we achieve; it is something we accept.

Romans 10:9 also helps provide information to explain how to believe in Jesus and become a child of God: “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Believing in Jesus includes accepting Him as Lord and believing Jesus was resurrected from the dead.

Other passages in Scripture make it clear that all who believe in Jesus by faith are children of God. Philippians 2:15 says we are to live as “children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.” First John 3:1 answers why God has called us His children: “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” It is His love that has given us the opportunity to live as His children.
