Blessings in the “Just In Case”

Sitting here tonight reading Psalms 91 after I had our sons pack a “just in case” evacuation bag. Absolutely not a matter of fear. I mean, the fires are spreading, we are very near a town that is on level 2, and very likely potential to hit 3. Just a matter of fact preparedness because wisdom says it’s possible it could spread this far. But it also very well may not. “do not worry” the Lord says. We are praying. (Phil. 4:6-7)God is in control. He hears the prayers of the righteous.

Sure its emotional. To think of a home and the specialness within it to think of leaving it behind as others we know already have done, not knowing what will be left to return to. As I read the Psalms I teared up. I had a real Supernatural comfort, while reading about the safety of abiding in the presence of God, and then I looked over at my son’s packed bag, and resting next to it, ready to go if need be, was this! His bible! This really made me tear up. Treasure above treasures. God’s Words. There is nothing better. It is strength for the journey. The journey each day until we meet our Savior.

I am thankful my son embraces and knows how vital these scriptures are for life. I am thankful for Jesus.

From Psalms 91

Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
