The Power of God’s Word – Pass It On

Resting through and through in God.

Listening from the other room, as my sons begin the day. Oh, how the Lord used Psalms 23 flowing out of Isaac’s mouth to minister to me.

It was Psalms 23 I began to recite the night I went into the hospital with concerns. As I laid on the emergency operating table, after a quick confirmation by the rush of the team of white coats of doctors and nurses, telling my husband and I that our baby barely had a heart beat and had me walk down the hall to that very room- I stayed as emotionally composed as I could so they could work quickly. I could not, however, control my body from trembling, but the immediate speaking this Psalms, brought a supernatural peace and strength.

Someone had taught me, the value of scripture memory when I was just a young girl. Someone taught me not only the value of memorizing it, but actually using and applying it to daily life.

When I was just 12 I was to go in for a procedure to check my heart with a camera inserted into an artery in my leg. I afterall had emergency open heart surgery as an infant with a patch/repair, and important it be checked after so many years. Back in those days echocardiograms were not used. As a young 12 year old, I quoted Psalms 23 and experienced a peace and strength of God during that procedure.

As a young mother I once again quoted that scripture with my baby being delivered in a very scary emergency, and the Lord Who is my Shepherd, provided my need, and above and beyond.

I have on my heart a few things. One! The value of God’s Word! It is Power and Life! Teaching God’s Word to children is so important. Teaching them to use it, obey it, live in it, powerful. Two! Pass it on. With passion. Three! Thank God for sending nuggets of gold through a life of another. Use the nuggets of gold!

By God’s grace and providence God sent someone to teach me this value in only a few simple occasions as a young girl. The Holy Spirit awakened me, to truly see the high value, and cherish the gift.

Four! Or?? Not sure what number I am on. Oh well. Let’s keep going.

The power, of hearing Isaac read the very words I exercised in that night of unknowns, that carried me through his lifeless limp body at birth, life support, seizures, diagnosis of stroke, and praise be to God, to breath and life!

All through the years of the unknowns-and God leading and making known the path one minute to next, day by day-as I rest today, with unknowns and many “knowns” only by God of the deepest emotions and thoughts enveloped in love, care, prayer…

Hearing my son read, what was passed onto me, what I passed onto him, flowing out of him-this Psalms today, I was not reciting, not expecting, and being recited by him- God used powerfully in my place of choosing rest, to minister not only to he and his brother, but also to me.

So….five, six, seven….

Pass it on!

God’s Word is a soothing peaceful balm to the aches of our hearts. His power goes forth radiantly-
GOODNESS AND MERCY shall follow His children all the days of our life! Every single one of His children.

May you be blessed today in God’s Words to you, and may the blessing be passed onward, and to Him be glory.

“The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.”

Couldn’t help but notice his shirt and think:

“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
