What Am I Laboring For Today? Will It Matter?

And on Day Five God said: “it’s TIME to hold your son”

“to everything there is a season a TIME for every purpose under heaven” Eccl. 3:1

TIME! From the beginning WE have needed more time. TIME to be on a ventilator to breathe air into his lungs before God equipping his lungs to work in HIS TIME. Extra TIME in the hospital before going home. And so on… and on and on…

Under the umbrella of protection of Almighty God in the place He has called us to in Disciple (ing) our children at home. He knows all our needs and will supply. (Phil 4:19)

When you are where God wants you, He will give you all you need to accomplish His perfect plan for your life.

May I never forget and may the HOLY SPIRIT empower me with more faith to remember these Words of His – that I may not be affected by the thoughts and opinions of other “men”. Even those held by this world in high regard, cannot possibly know the mysteries of God in what He is doing in the unseen in advocating for His children daily.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. ”
Is. 55:8-11

The word of God will produce it’s intended results in fulfilling God’s spiritual purposes. Just as the rain comes and goes to meet human needs. Thus is the WORD of God for our human needs.

I am accountable to God.

A question Solomon posed is what profit is there to our labor?

As Solomon said at the end of his life. Much was vanity!!! IF we labor for anything, labor for those things that are going to last for eternity. What am I laboring for today? Labor is all of man’s activity. Life is fleeting. I find it fascinating that the finality of this great book of Ecclesiastes, the third to last verse refers again to a common “labor” that happens in this world. “Laboring” through book after book in desperate need for wisdom. But I know God’s purpose in this “WORD” was more than literally just “books”, but the many avenues in which we search desperately for answers, help, hope in this world.  This day it could be blogs, counselors, books, and a zillion other means.

What does God show Solomon? “and further my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is NO end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.” Ecc. 12:12.

Wow!!! God warns us. Laboring in vain. Will only cause exhaustion.  Because in Matthew 11:28 Jesus says:  “Come to meall you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. ..”

And then THE GOD SAYS: “CONCLUSION of this whole matter… “FEAR God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s ALL!!!!” Eccl. 12:13 ALL!!!! EVERYTHING!!!!

Solomon’s final word on the issues raised, as well as life itself, FOCUS ON ONE’S RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. All of the concern for life under the sun, with it’s pleasures and uncertainties, was behind Solomon. Such things seemed comparatively irrelevant to him as he faced the end of his life. Whatever one’s portion in life, accountability to God (God! God! God!), whose ways are often mysterious (higher than human understanding), is both eternal and irrevocable.
